Responsible repurposing encouraged in Albany
With kerbside collections across Albany in coming weeks, the question of whether residents can take items left on the verge has been raised.
The first round of bulk waste collection began on Monday, and the last will begin on June 20.
City of Albany ranger team leader Colin Hyde said residents were encouraged to salvage items which were able to be repurposed.
“The City of Albany encourages residents with items that are able to be repurposed take them to Fossicker’s Tip Shop, located at the Hanrahan Road waste facility,” he said.
“If there is an item on the verge for collection which you wish to take, we recommend checking with the owner first.”
Kerbside collection waste should be placed on the verge no earlier than seven days before each zone’s scheduled start date.
Mr Hyde said bulk waste must be separated in to different such as e-waste, greens, and hard waste piles.
“Where people fail to comply, such as putting out goods in the road reserve outside of the advertised period regulatory action may occur,” he said.
“In all cases, time, place and circumstance will be considered by the investigating ranger and each case will be managed on its merit.”
The roadside collection zones and dates are as follows:
