Premier expected today, tomorrow

Albany Advertiser

Premier Colin Barnett is expected to visit Albany today and tomorrow.

A spokeswoman said he would inspect Albany Regional Hospital and visit a local school.

The spokeswoman said the Premier would also visit the Albany Entertainment Centre, which he had not inspected since it opened last December.

Mr Barnett’s last visit to Albany was in April last year, for the opening of ANZAC Peace Park.

The Premier will also meet with City of Albany chief executive Faileen James and Mayor Milton Evans to discuss local issues.

“They’ve allocated half an hour, and I welcome that opportunity and we’ll raise a few issues with him,” Mr Evans said.

Mr Evans said he hoped to discuss the contentious issue of the management of the Albany Entertainment Centre, as well as State Government funding for the ANZAC commemorations in 2014 and funding for road projects.

Mr Barnett’s spokeswoman said the Premier hoped to talk to as many residents as possible.

“He wants to hear about local issues, the things that matter to the people in Albany,” the spokeswoman said.
