Port declares cyclone alert

A tropical cyclone has been spotted off the coast of WA, prompting the Albany Port to declare a stage one cyclone alert.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, tropical Cyclone Bianca is expected to move in a south-easterly direction towards the southwest corner of WA before reaching Albany early Sunday afternoon.

The cyclone is expected to weaken steadily before then, however there is a significant risk that it will maintain tropical cyclone intensity, with damaging winds and gusts of up to 120kmh.
