A man who was accused of threatening to kill a woman in Manypeaks in October has had the charge dropped by police.

Michael James Clayton, 37, appeared in Albany Magistrate's Court on Monday where prosecutors formally discontinued the charge of threats to kill stemming from an incident at his home on October 16 when he discharged a firearm.

Clayton pleaded guilty to six remaining charges including one count each of being armed in a manner to cause fear, discharging a firearm to cause fear, failing to ensure the safe keeping of a firearm, possessing cannabis and two counts of possessing drug paraphernalia.

Police did not oppose Clayton's protective bail conditions being amended so he could return to reside at his home in Manypeaks.

Defence lawyer Tony Chilvers requested a pre-sentence and psychological report before sentencing on February 12.
