The winners of the I Love Albany photo competition were announced last Thursday.

Professional and amateur photographers entered the competition over 12 months, culminating in an exhibition in Albany Town Hall last Wednesday and Thursday.

Run by Professionals Arthur Johnston Snowball and the Albany Advertiser, monthly winners were chosen in junior and senior categories from the hundreds of entries and went into the draw for the overall prizes.

Luke Hetherington took out the senior section with a shot of a dinghy at the Elizabeth Street Jetty, Brayden Thompson won the junior category for his image of a sunrise at the Desert Mounted Corps Memorial and Caitlin Williams claimed the people's choice award for a stunning shot of the Princess Royal Sailing Club.

Professionals Arthur Johnston Snowball sales and marketing manager Rob Mason said the competition attracted more than 800 entries.

"We thought seeing there were so many good photographers down here on the south coast and Great Southern and many great opportunities for amazing photos that it would be a good idea," he said.

"The quality of the photos was outstanding and I think some budding photographers got some great exposure."

The winning canvases were auctioned to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
