Albany’s up-and-coming swimmers will be given a taste of what it takes to make it to the world stage when dual Olympian Blair Evans visits the region this weekend.

Evans will visit Albany Swim Club to conduct two clinics to help aspiring swimmers prepare for their major meet of the season, the SunSmart State Open and Age Long Course Championships, which start in Perth on Monday.

The 25-year-old West Australian qualified for her second Olympic Games in Rio, but failed to make the final of the 400m individual medley.

ASC head coach Marshall McAleese said the club’s up-and-coming swimmers would learn much from the London 2012 silver medallist ahead of their major meet of the season.

“It will be terrific motivation for them. It makes them realise a WA swimmer can go all the way and there is a pathway,” he said.

The club’s Sharks and Dolphins squads will take part in a session tomorrow afternoon before a special session on Saturday morning.
