Great Southern indigenous artists will be exhibiting their work at one of the country's biggest Aboriginal art fairs next weekend.

Mungart Boodja Arts Centre will be exhibiting about 30 local artists' works at the ninth annual Darwin Art Fair, which will run from August 7 to 9.

The fair, which will coincide with the 2015 Darwin Festival, presents the work of emerging and established artists and provides opportunities for visitors to meet the artists. With more than 40 centres from across Australia exhibiting, Mungart Boodja manager Kodie Batchelor said the fair was the most established in Australia and was an opportunity for recognition of Noongar artists.

"It's a chance to get their work viewed by a larger crowd," she said. "There will be a lot of art buyers and gallery owners from Australia and across the world … we are quite a small-scale art centre, so it's good to put us on the map."

Local artist Caroline Narkle, who will have some of her pieces exhibited, said she was very excited for her work to be displayed.

'There's going to be a lot of people going, and we like to get our work recognised," she said.

Ms Batchelor will attend the fair with local artist Kimberley Krakouer.
