With just two rounds remaining before finals, last season’s premiers were outclassed by the experienced Sonix outfit 39-31.

In what was an intense and physical contest, prolific shooter Brooke Pearson was the difference, finding the net when required.

Royal Saints were missing star shooter Ronnie Williams, sidelined with a knee injury, but were held together by Mia Page and Kylie Ditchburn, while young guns Suzie Mier and Jessica Jackson battled hard in the eight-goal loss.

In the second upset of the round, Magpies 1 claimed just their third win of the season against Kangas 1 by a single goal.

The match was always headed for a gripping finish with both sides evenly matched. Their mix of youth and experience was a highlight, but the A1 newcomers found themselves on the right side of the result, scoring victory 43-42.

The Magpies kept their slim finals hopes alive with that win, as they now face Jokers 1 and Kangas 2 in the upcoming weeks.

Kangas 2 and ladder leaders Narrikup 1 will play a rescheduled game this week.
