Things have been getting hairy in local law enforcement as the men of the Albany Police Station have ditched their razors in support of Movember.

The Movember Foundation initiative is to encourage people to raise funds and awareness for men's health and wellbeing.

Constable Hugo Gill said it was the first time the station had combined efforts to raise funds for the Movember Foundation and he hoped the moustache presence would encourage more people to discuss men's health.

"Everyone seems to do it individually and we thought we would do it as a team this year to get more awareness," he said.

"There is a lot of publicity, but there still isn't enough.

"It seems to be the only time of the year people talk about men's health, but it should be more regular."

Const. Gill said the lip-ticklers acted as a talking point for men's health and he encouraged others to join in.
