Midsummer Ball attracts who's who of Albany

KATHERINE MOUNTAINAlbany Advertiser

A veritable who’s who of Albany turned out to the Midsummer Night’s Ball to raise money for flood disaster victims in Australia on Saturday night.

There was glitz, there was glamour and there were bucket loads of generosity at the event, which raised funds for flood victims in Carnarvon, Victoria and Queensland and WA’s fire victims.

Guests walked the walk on the red carpet into the transformed Albany Entertainment Centre and were greeted with champagne, a four-piece orchestra and spectacular “live art” installations.

Event co-organisers Michelle Dayman and Jodi McFarlane were thrilled with the outcome of the evening.

“We were ecstatic with how the night went. It was an exceptional evening,” she said.

“We think it has really raised the bar for events in Albany.”

Ms Dayman said the live auction and silent auction proved enormous hits with the crowd.

“Everyone danced the night away, and then loads of people kicked on afterwards at the after-party at Liberté. The place was full of black ties.”

Ms Dayman said the final amount raised at the event was still being counted, but said she expected it would be in the tens of thousands.
