Marina upgrades welcomed
The State Government has announced funding of almost $2 million to improve five separate Great Southern boating facilities, including the marina on the Albany Waterfront and parking facilities at Emu Point.

The Albany marina project was allocated $1.68 million in the latest round of Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme grants announced by Transport Minister Troy Buswell and Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls this week.
The marina grant was the largest in the $8.9 million statewide round of RBFS grants, and will provide a boat ramp, trailer park, reclamation and toilets for the project.
Mayor Milton Evans welcomed the funding.
“I’m delighted with that; the expectation of this community is to have those facilities, and I know it will be well received and well used by the people,” he said.
“I know there’s a long list of people anticipating a berth in the marina and I can’t wait to see all kinds of different vessels at anchor at the foot of the foreshore development.
“Bring it on.”
The other four Great Southern grants included $155,000 for the expansion and upgrade of parking facilities at Emu Point, $60,000 for a floating jetty at the Denmark River mouth, a $25,000 upgrade of car and trailer parking at Nornalup and $57,000 for a boat ramp replacement and parking upgrade at Lake Queerearrup.
