Local artist Jenny (Jaybird) Street is displaying her work in her latest exhibition, Still Spiralling at the Three Anchors Art Gallery.

As an emerging artist, Still Spiralling is a follow-on from Street's first exhibition, Spiralling into a Colourful Life, held last year.

After moving to Albany more than three years ago, Street started lessons at the Vancouver Arts Centre and since then painting has become her lifestyle.

Her style of work is best described as intuitive and many of her works come from exploring and experimenting as she goes, honouring her creative self, celebrating and allowing the canvas to become whatever it will be.

"Life is always the inspiration for my work and what I cannot communicate with words, I sometimes manage to communicate on the canvas," she said.

Street said the theme of her art was based on colour, expression, imperfection, individualism, courage and creativity and the style was unique, exploratory and individual, using acrylics and mixed media.

She said some of the canvases had been two years in the making, and had changed over time.

"I believe it's important to let the canvas do its own speaking, every painting has its own story," she said.

Still Spiralling will be exhibiting until the end of December.
