North Albany reserves won their third straight premiership after downing Railways by 37 points in blustery conditions at Sounness Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers were wayward in front of goals, but the Kangas proved too classy in the end, finishing ahead 11.8 (74) to 4.13 (37).

The Kangas got off to the perfect start when Jyrin Woods won the first clearance and followed his own ball into the 50 to kick the opening goal in the first 30 seconds.

A quick snap from Michael Martain a minute later had the Kangas 12 points out in front before the two-minute mark.

The Tigers slowly worked their way into the game but failed to capitalise on their chances, kicking 1.5 for the quarter with the breeze behind them.

In stark contrast, the Kangas took their chances in the second quarter, kicking five goals to one to open up a 27-point lead at the main break as Nathan Dovey got on top in the ruck and fed the likes of Grant Freeborough and JyrinWoods.

The Tigers were again wasteful with the breeze in the third quarter and could only manage to bring the margin back to four goals at the last change.

The Kangas kicked three goals to one in the last quarter to come away with a comfortable win to stretch their unbeaten run beyond two seasons.

Dovey put together a dominant display in the ruck, while Brodie Sumich won the Jim Hull Medal for best afield, gaining an abundance of possessions throughout the contest.

Sumich was prolific through the middle of the ground and used his pace on several occasions to break away from contests, setting up countless forward thrusts for the Kangas.

Sumich also won the medal in 2007 and 2008 and said it had been a strong year for the Kangas.

“It was a great year for the club to make it through to the grand final and then to get the win in those windy conditions was an outstanding effort,” he said.

Jyrin Woods also provided a spark in the middle for the Kangas, finishing with three goals and got great support from Freeborough.

Jack Hastie won a heap of contested ball for the Tigers while veteran Scott Hillman found plenty of the football

Laurie Dowsett toiled hard in the ruck and down back, but the Tigers lacked contributors up forward.
