A small group of drivers braved the wet and windy conditions at Albany City Kart Club last Sunday for their July club meeting, several coming unstuck on the slippery track surface.

In the competitive sportsman light division, Jake Jurgielewicz proved too strong with four race wins and a second handing him a convincing overall victory.

Jurgielewicz won the first three events in his class, finished second in pre-final 2 and then took out the final in an impressive display.

He finished with 1409 points to defeat Alan Griffiths (1051 points), Brandon Elliott (1048), Jake Condren (864) and Morgan Delamotte (751) in the overall standings. Elliott was the victor of the other sportsman light race while Condren was hurt by a non-finish in the first event and a fifth in pre- final 1.

In the cadet categories, there were plenty of thrills and spills but consistency paid off for Kane Badger, with three seconds and two thirds enough to secure an overall win in the cadet 12 class.

Badger (1201) was able to prevail over Aaron Riedyk (1156), who won four events but failed to finish the opening heat, and Jayden Turner (1016).

Three race wins guided Mitchell Riedyk (1341) to a narrow overall triumph over Kaidyn Manley (1337) with Tyler Hotker (1137) back in third place.

Jason Riedyk was hard to beat in the Albany 125 category, claiming four wins including the final to defeat Matthew Hotker by 272 points.

Greg Pearson won the remaining race in the division but finished third overall after a non-finish in pre-final 2.
