Talented WA jockey Brad Parnham will ride in Albany for the first time in almost eight years today as he looks to re-establish himself in the State riding ranks after stints in Singapore and Victoria.

In March Parnham was granted a five-month licence to ride in Singapore.

His licence was extended after he broke his collarbone in his first ride at Kranji on April 24.

With three winners to his name during the Singapore stint, Parnham flew back to Melbourne in October when his riding contract expired and took rides at a number of Victorian venues before coming back home to WA in recent weeks.

The 27-year-old is now looking to spread his wings in WA, where he has ridden predominantly for his father and leading metropolitan trainer Neville Parnham during a highly successful career.

Parnham had four engagements at yesterday's meeting in Geraldton and will take six rides in this afternoon's card in Albany.

He is open to travelling to the Great Southern regularly this season.

"I have been away for quite a while and I'm eager to get back into things," Parnham said.

"I am not so much riding just for my dad; I'm trying to spread myself around a bit.

"I'm eager to work at the moment.

"I'm not committed to come down every week but I will try and travel to most meetings."

His last ride at Percy Spencer Racecourse was back on March 23, 2008, where he had six engagements and finished the day on a winning note aboard Danish Currency.

With two Group 2 wins and three Group 3 victories to his name, Parnham was confident with his rides in today's seven-race card.

"I did always like the (Albany) track," he said. "I'm pretty happy with my book of rides.

"Steve Wolfe has given me a couple of nice rides and I ride for Brian Kersley a bit up here, so it's good to ride one for him.

"Blitzem Someday is a pretty decent horse so I expect it to go well."
