The Great Southern Storm colts side have made it through to the grand final of the Landmark Country Football Championships following a big win against South West Football League at Sir Ross McLarty Oval today.

The Storm held on against a surging SWFL to win 6.5 (41) to 5.5 (35) and will play SWFL again tomorrow at Medibank Stadium in the grand final.

SWFL controlled the opening stages of the game but couldn’t convert their opportunities, the Storm slowly work their way into the game and ended up in front at the break courtesy of goals to Jake Becroft and Jayden Scott.

The second half was an even tussle until two quick goals to Declan McNamara and Becroft put the Storm three goals clear, however two late goals to SWFL had them surging in the final minutes but to no avail.

Storm’s midfield brigade of Beau Ewen, Cam Quenby, Mitch Lenegan and McNamara found a heap of possession while Becroft chipped in with three goals.

In the Storms other game today they went down to Regional Districts by 10 points after conceding five goals in the last half to lose 4.1 (25) to 5.5 (35).

Regional Districts had the ball locked in their forward half for the first ten minutes of the game but only managed three points, in similar fashion to their first game the Storm came good late, bagging three goals and looked to be in control.

However a last half collapse saw Regional Districts pile on five goals to one and come away with the victory.

McNamara, Addison Dew and Ewen were solid through the middle of the ground while Jordan Reid played a good game in defence.

The Storm will face SWFL in tomorrow’s decider at 10am at Medibank Stadium.
