Albany grandmother Dorothy Hulm’s final hours were spent with three of her beloved West Coast Eagles players at Albany Health Campus last Thursday.

The Eagles were in the Great Southern as part of their pre-season community camp and stopped in to meet the 97-year-old.

Dorothy had questions prepared for Luke Shuey, Eric Mackenzie and Elliot Yeo and received a 2014 team poster. Sadly, later that evening Dorothy passed way.

Dorothy’s granddaughter Poppie Jachmann wrote to the Eagles to thank them.

“We just cannot thank the West Coast Eagles club for making her last day extra special,” she wrote.

“My Nan was a fierce supporter, the West Coast Eagles could do no wrong in her eyes.”

Shuey posted a photo of Dorothy, himself and Yeo on his Instagram account with the caption: “Had the absolute pleasure of meeting this lovely lady ‘Dot’, sadly just 5 hours before she passed away! Couldn’t be happier to make her last day a little more enjoyable.”

Dorothy’s relative Jodie Hulm also posted on the Eagles’ Facebook.

“We are just so grateful to have this wonderful happy final photo of Nan to cherish and remember her by. She was a great lady and devoted footy fan,” she wrote.
