Fog causes flight delays

Thick fog which blanketed Albany this morning has caused flight delays at Albany Regional Airport with visibility reduced to less than 150m.

Two flights have been delayed due to low visibly due to fog which set in before dawn.

The flight to Perth departing at 6.30am this morning later departed the runway 2 hours later at 8.30am.

Airport staffer Anna Page said the fog will also delay a flight coming in from Perth by 50 minutes now set to arrive at 10.40am.

For the departure of a flight the required visibility is 550m.

At 6.30am visibility on the runway was 100m due to the dense fog and lifted to 200m up to 8.30am.

No other flights are said to be delayed.
