Five walking trails in Albany

Albany has a wealth of walking trails for locals and visitors to take advantage of this long weekend.

1. Bald Head Walk Trail, Torndirrup National Park

This challenging 16km return hike along the Flinders Peninsula boasts spectacular views of the coastline and often wildlife including kangaroos, eagles, dolphins and whales.

2. Ellen Cove to Albany Port Trail

Known as ‘the boardwalk’ to locals, this 6km walk and cycle path is a family-friendly way to take in the coastline from Middleton Beach to Princess Royal Harbour and learn about Albany’s history along the way, with many memorials and plaques.

3. Luke Pen Walk

This 9km trail winds through bushland alongside the Kalgan River and offers views of surrounding farmland, birdlife, kayakers, fishers and a spectacular showcase of windflowers in Spring.

4. Mt Adelaide Nature Trail

This 3km return walk, which can also be completed as a loop, features spectacular views over King George Sound and information about Albany’s rich history.

5. Peak Head Track, Torndirrup National Park

This 5km return track follows a sandy trail through native bushland and around imposing granite boulders, with stunning vistas of the Southern Ocean.
