Fire engulfs 4WD during beach drive

Police spokesman said local man was driving along the beach in Nanarup on Saturday afternoon when the driver noticed smoke coming from the wheel arch of his vehicle.

He was able to evacuate passengers and before the entire vehicle became engulfed in fire.

It is suspected some type of mechanical fault with the vehicle is to blame for the fire.

All occupants are ok and there is no threat to nearby bushland.

Police will not be pursing the incident further.
