Mt Barker police managed to capture a known escape artist spotted roaming through the town at the weekend.

Police officers were surprised to discover a local pet emu known as “Elvis” strolling along the intersection of Deane Street and Ormond Road on Saturday.

The feathered fugitive was previously wrangled by Senior Constable Kevin Loveland in December, after fleeing from his yard.

Police officers managed to successfully apprehend Elvis for the second time within six months and return the avian absconder to his owners.
