Eagles land for regional outreach

TIM EDMUNDSAlbany Advertiser

Three West Coast Eagles stars of the past dropped into the Great Southern this week, on their second regional Border Patrol tour.

Having kicked off last season as part of a shift in sponsorship between Toyota and the club, the second leg of the regional community outreach program included premiership players Glen Jakovich and David Hart, along with inaugural captain Ross Glendinning.

The Eagles Border Patrol tour spent a busy two days in the Great Southern attending 11 primary schools to deliver motivational talks on respect and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, as well as running skills clinics with the students.

Schools the Eagles trio visited included Albany Primary, Flinders Park Primary, Little Grove Primary, Mt Lockyer Primary and Spencer Park Primary.

Children and parents also took part in skills competitions and a community barbecue at Albany Toyota on Tuesday afternoon, which gave them the opportunity to get up close and personal with the former stars.

Mr Glendinning said the club was again given a warm welcome to the region.

He said going on the number of children wearing West Coast Eagles jumpers, it was clear the Border Patrol team was in an Eagles heartland.
