More than 100 golfers hit the Albany Golf Club course for the annual Albany Community Hospice fundraiser on Tuesday.

Despite a sudden thunderstorm delaying proceedings, golfers quickly made their way to the tees for the “shotgun” start.

Organiser Todd McGregor said he was impressed by the generosity of businesses and individuals who supported the community-run hospice.

“This is our major fundraiser of the year and we get donations from throughout the community,” he said.

A full field of 144 golfers in 36 teams joined guests, former West Coast Eagles players Glen Jakovich and Andrew Embley, to make the day a success.

On Monday, the two former footballers visited the hospice.

They then gave insights into the AFL team at a dinner and auction at Motel Le Grande, attended by about 100 people.

“It was very entertaining, though the big items in the auction had to be passed in,” Mr McGregor said.

“However, negotiations for these are under way.”
