A driver has allegedly been clocked at 196km/h on Albany Highway in Narrikup, just north of Albany.

WA Police tweeted this morning that a vehicle was recorded travelling at nearly 200km/h in a 100km/h zone near the small hamlet, about 20km north of Albany.

It comes after police charged a 29-year-old man with reckless driving and confiscated his car for 28 days under hoon legislation after detecting the car allegedly speeding at 181km/h on Albany Highway near Mt Barker, last week.
