An elderly couple were standing in their kitchen when a truck has ploughed into the front bedroom of their Park Road home after hitting two cars last Tuesday afternoon.

The truck driver and drivers of the two other vehicles escaped serious injury, but one driver was taken to Albany Regional Hospital as a precaution.

Albany Police, State Emergency Service, St John Ambulance and Albany Fire Brigade attended the crash at the intersection of Park and David roads in Spencer Park about 4.50pm.

Eddie Orzel, son of the home owners, said there was no structural damage to the house.

“Both my parents were in the kitchen when the crash happened, they thought it was a large clap of thunder at first,” he said.

“Given what happened, the SES were surprised that there was not more damage to the house.

“Most of the damage was isolated to the main front bedroom.”

The truck was extracted from the house late on Tuesday evening.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash and are calling on witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
