An Albany family had a lucky escape and were left startled after an out-of-control car crashed into the front of their property on Saturday.

The Appleton family on Middleton Road were asleep when a driver in a Holden Commodore lost control of the car at 11.46pm on Saturday night, crashing into the tree at the front of the property.

A letterbox and a small retaining wall also prevented the car from heading towards the home’s bedrooms.

The tree was uprooted as the car came to rest, which was captured on CCTV from inside the garage of the home.

Rhonda Appleton said the driver was apologetic.
