The Peter Anderson-trained Bronze Seeker stole the $30,000 GWN7 Albany Pacing Cup (2683m) at the Harold Reid Paceway last Friday night with a last gasp dive on the post.

Bronze Seeker made it two from two at the track after the five-year-old gelding took out last year’s $9000 Albany Harness Racing Club New Years Eve Cup (2683m).

The Lang Inwood-driven Bronze Seeker started at $7.80 on the tote and absorbed the early speed in the feature race.

The Andrew De Campo-trained Lovers Delight set a hot pace up front as he led from Hokuri Handrail, the Gary Hall Snr-trained Rowchester and Cyclone Mitch at the first turn.

Bronze Seeker sat three back on the fence for the trip with Anderson saying it was always the plan.

“He is a real stand and kick horse, he was drawn to get that run,” he said.

Lovers Delight, driven by Aiden De Campo, broke away at the 400m mark and looked the winner.

Bronze Seeker and G’day Mate lunged at Lovers Delight in the final 100m and the $171,413 stakes earning Bronze Seeker got the verdict on the outside.

Anderson said the early pace suited Bronze Seeker.

“I like coming to Albany, the track has been very good to me,” he said.

“He will now go to the Narrogin Cup next Thursday.”

Anderson praised the drive of Inwood and said he had no hesitation in booking him for the drive.

“It was a very good drive from Lang, we were quick to book him because he knows the track so well,” he said.

It was Inwood’s second winning drive in the Albany Pacing Cup after he tasted success with Lombo Socrates in 2011.

“I was just happy to pick a drive as I have been focusing more on my training and not driving,” he said.

“The horse has been going well in Perth and was just spot on Friday night.”

Friday night’s win was Bronze Seeker’s 16th win from 63 starts.

Anderson claimed a double for the evening when Chocolatto beat Our Red Baron to win the Bevan’s WA Seafood and Exporters MS Pace (2258m).

Andrew De Campo trained a double as he collected wins with Miss Abigail in the Auto One Albany Fillies and Mares (1828m) and Artistic Cooper in the Auto One Albany 3YO MS Pace (2258m).
