Bankers flee as shots fired

TIM EDMUNDSAlbany Advertiser

A 53-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly fired his rifle in the air preventing two bank representatives from entering his Denmark property yesterday.

The two bank employees attended the 283ha property for a meeting with the man about 11.45am when they were confronted by him on the access road.

It is alleged the man was armed with a licensed .223 calibre rifle he had in his car and fired a single shot in the air to prevent the two representatives from approaching the property.

Police say no verbal threats were made and the rifle was not pointed at the victims, who fled and reported the incident to police.

Officers located a number of firearms owned and licensed to the man when police executed a search warrant on his property.
