More than 40 Albany tourism attractions and businesses have received global recognition from the world's largest travel site, TripAdvisor.

Attractions such as Albany Visitor Centre, Princess Royal Fortress, Desert Mounted Corps Memorial and businesses such as HideAway Haven, Vancouver Cafe, Bay Merchants and many more received the Certificate of Excellence for 2015.

Beach House at Bayside was the only Albany business to enter the TripAdvisor Hall of Fame after receiving the Certificate of Excellence five years in a row.

City of Albany tourism development and services manager Matthew Bird said being recognised by TripAdvisor was a direct result of positive customer feedback.

"Three City of Albany visitor facilities received Certificates of Excellence, which is a fantastic result and a testament to the City's renewed strategic efforts in the area of tourism and destination marketing," he said.

Australia's South West works closely with Albany tourism operators and encourages them to use sites such as TripAdvisor to create a rapport with consumers.

Australia's South West chief executive Jasmine Meagher said because the older demographic largely used TripAdvisor, it was an important consideration for the area.

She said these types of travellers had more flexibility to travel for longer periods of time to more isolated areas and usually had higher amounts of disposable income.
