Anzac supporters brave wet weather
Locals and visitors turned out in droves to witness Albany’s Anzac Day march along Stirling Terrace on Monday.
Excited children wielding umbrellas and flags, tourists and ex-servicemen braved the rain to watch the procession of cadets, marching bands and diggers make their way to Anzac Peace Park overlooking Princess Royal Harbour.
The sombre memorial service included the laying of wreaths and a rendition of the Last Post that could be heard from the top end of York Street.
One minute’s silence and the playing of reveille followed.
Attendees included Returned and Services League Albany Sub-Branch president Peter Aspinall and City of Albany Mayor Milton Evans.
Heather York led the Great Southern Grammar marching band and Albany cadet flag bearers led the RSL Albany Sub-Branch.
Other notable guests included Albany Light Horse Troops, World War II veterans and TS Vancouver cadets.
