Albany recorded a sweltering maximum of 38.8 degrees Celsius today, nearing a record temperature for November.

It neared the record for the hottest November day of 39.2 degrees set in 2013 with the mercury hitting 38.8 at 2.52pm at Albany Airport.

A wind change dramatically dropped the temperature to 23.8 at 3.30pm.
