Police are looking for a man who stole an Albany woman’s car when after she stopped to assist him after he was involved in a motorcycle accident on Monday afternoon.

The crash in McKail on the corner of Albany Highway and Kooyong Avenue at about 12.20pm resulted in the man falling from a motorcycle after a collision with another vehicle.

The woman stopped to assist the man, only for her dual cab utility to be stolen by him.

Senior Constable Adam Winter said police had been unable to identify the man but were forensically analysing the motorcycle in the hope of matching DNA.

He said police were looking for a man described as having a stocky build with brown curly hair and various tattoos on his arms.

“The motorist has left her keys in the ignition which has laid the temptation for the man to take the car,” Sen. Const. Winter said.

Anyone with information is urged to call Albany police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
