Albany man faces more historic child sex abuse charges

A 77-year-old Albany man accused of historic child sex offences dating back more than three decades will face more charges, a court heard this morning.

Kenneth Ernest Norman appeared in Albany Magistrates Court this morning facing 10 charges but defence lawyer Tony Chilvers told the court his client was facing more charges which had been served yesterday.

Child abuse squad detectives originally charged Mr Norman as a result of their investigation, alleging he sexually assaulted three girls under the age of 14 who were known to him between 1970 and 1978.

The court was told today four more complainants had emerged after police prosecutors dismissed a charge of unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under 13.

Mr Norman now faces 23 charges after 13 counts of unlawful and indecent dealings with a child were added.

Mr Chilvers as a result requested another adjournment for legal advice.

Mr Norman was bailed to reappear in court on December 23.
