The 2016 West Coast Fever squad will begin a gruelling three-day pre-season training camp in Albany tomorrow in an attempt to better last year's elimination final loss in the ANZ Championship last year.

After the success of a similar trip to Karratha before the 2015 campaign, when the Fever made their first finals appearance in the ANZ Championship, captain Ash Brazill was excited to be visiting another regional area.

Brazill, who was recently announced as skipper of the WA side for a second straight season, has never been to Albany before and was eager to further the bond between the squad.

"The biggest thing for our players is we train week-in, week-out in Perth, getting comfortable in those surroundings," she said.

"We want to go somewhere most of us have never been and train in a different environment.

"It will help bring us closer together as a group and increase that bond between the players."

The midcourt star said after reflecting on their performance last year, the Fever were eager to improve this season.

"It was a great year, but for a player to make finals and get knocked out in round 1, it was a defeat," she said.

"We have a trip to New Zealand coming up, so this is the most important time of the pre-season for us.

"To travel and train together in a different environment and just to get out of Perth will be great.

"When we pull on the Fever colours, we are representing WA, not just Perth, so it will be good to get out into the community."

Brazill recently returned from Australian Diamonds duties during a successful Test series in England and said coach Stacey Rosman had the squad in terrific shape.

"Everyone is looking fit, but I have never seen our midcourt looking so fit," she said.

"To have Stacey, who has been a coach and also a player, she has been there before and knows what to expect.

"She is all about the Fever and every day trying to make us better.

"As players, we respect that."

The Fever will be in Albany from tonight until Thursday afternoon.
