Improvement works begin on Water Corporation pipeline between Kojonup and Katanning

Works have started on replacing a section of the water pipeline between Kojonup and Katanning.

The replacement works were started by the Water Corporation this week on a 2.2km section of pipeline between a water pump station on Pemble Street, near Hassell Street, in Katanning and Kojonup-Katanning Road.

The upgrades are expected to take six to eight months and aim to improve the reliability of the water supply for residents by reducing the risk of leaks and breaks occurring in the pipeline.

A Water Corporation spokesperson said the works will entail some road closures.

“Short-term road closures will be in place along Pemble Street to ensure work can be completed safely, however, this will occur in a staged approach to limit impacts to residents and road users,” the spokesperson said.

“Detours will be clearly marked and access to individual properties will be maintained.

“Temporary water supply interruptions are expected to a small number of customers towards the end of the project. Water Corporation will be in touch with residents expected to be impacted.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and thank the community for their patience and understanding.”

The upgrades were announced in 2021 and are part of the $43.8 million Western Australia Connections package delivered under the National Water Grid Fund and is funded in partnership by the Water Corporation and State and Federal Governments.
