A rock climber has died after falling from a cliff in an isolated West Australian national park.

The man in his 20s fell from a vertical cliff face in the West Cape Howe National Park late on Tuesday, police said in a statement on Wednesday.

He died from injuries he received during the fall.

Paramedics notified police of the man's death about 5pm but emergency services were unable to recover his body due to the failing light and safety concerns.

Officers remained at the scene overnight to guard it and the man's body is expected to be recovered on Wednesday morning.

The man's family have been notified of his death and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

West Cape Howe National Park is 390 km southeast of Perth and located west of Albany.

The park's towering coastal cliffs along WA's southern coast are a popular destination for rock climbers.
