Police hunting for rowdy Perth Glory fans who set off flares and allegedly started small bushfire
Police are on the hunt for a group of rowdy Perth Glory fans who set off multiple flares in the middle of the street before they allegedly started a small bushfire less than an hour before kick-off.
CCTV vision of about 30 people - some in Glory kits - is now in the hands of police after they were forced to douse a small scrub fire on Pier Street, in Perth, on December 27.
It is alleged some of the people in the group set off flares while walking in the area between 7pm and 7.15pm.
“One of the flares started a fire in shrubbery outside the Perth Children’s Court,” police said.
Glory took to the field against Macarthur FC at HBF Park at 7.45pm on the same night.
Vision of the group shared by WA Police shows one of the group members wearing a balaclava. In one video the group - which is believed to consist of mostly young men - were heard chanting “the famous Glory boys”.
Perth Glory suffered a 3-0 loss to Macarthur on December 27, which extended their winless run at home games past 10 months.
Last Friday, the Glory lost again in a thrilling 3-2 defeat to Western United after Jordan Lauton scored a bicycle kick goal for the visitors in stoppage time.
Police are wanting to speak with anyone who can help identify the people in the vision.
Anyone with information is asked to contact crime stoppers on 1800 300 000.
