Tristan Warren Seagrim: 24-year-old driver accused of Wundowie crash was on parole with life ban from driving

A 24-year-old apprentice had been on parole with a life ban from driving when he allegedly lost control of his car — leaving one teenage passenger fighting for life — and ran away from police after a serious car accident east of Perth. Tristan Warren Seagrim, 24, faced Perth Magistrates Court on Friday charged with dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm in circumstances of aggravation and no authority to drive. The court was told Mr Seagrim lost control of his Ford Falcon sedan — which had two 17-year-old female passengers — and hit a large tree after doing burnouts on Doys Road, Wundowie, between 7.30pm and 7.50pm on Thursday. The police prosecutor said the South Boulder man allegedly drove in a manner to “deliberately lose traction and create skid marks”, causing the tyres to slide onto soft gravel and crash into the tree. Mr Seagrim allegedly fled the crash scene and was later arrested at a home in Wundowie after police found him in possession of the car key. One teen was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital with a fractured skull, fractured eye socket and “large” laceration to the top of the head. On Friday, an RPH spokesperson confirmed she was in ICU in critical condition. The other passenger was taken to St John of God Midland Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. Both teens are friends of Mr Seagrim. The police prosecutor said there was a “strong prosecution case” and that Mr Seagrim could face more charges given the extent of the girl’s injuries. The prosecutor also said Mr Seagrim was still on parole after being released from prison and was already facing a life ban from driving. “He has a really bad driving record,” he said. Mr Seagrim’s parole ends on January 5. Magistrate Donna Webb told the 24-year-old he was facing “very, very serious charges” and said she needed more information for a bail application. Mr Seagrim was remanded in custody and will front court again on January 3 via video link for legal advice.
