Christopher John Sullivan admits he stabbed his partner at her Perth hills home: Court

A man has pleaded guilty to attempted murder, admitting he stabbed his partner at her Perth Hills home earlier this year. Christopher John Sullivan, 73, appeared before the Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court via video link from Casuarina Prison accused of trying to kill grandmother Paulette Mountford, 60. Mr Sullivan was accused of stabbing Ms Mountford several times at her home on Jessie Rd in Gooseberry Hill, in Perth’s east, leaving her with life threatening injuries. Ms Mountford was found by neighbours bleeding in the front yard of her home with several stab wounds shortly after 5pm on June 4. Neighbours called emergency services who rushed Ms Mountford to hospital where she underwent emergency surgery and remained for several days in a serious condition. Mr Sullivan allegedly barricaded himself inside the home before tactical response officers negotiated for him to leave. Following the incident, Ms Mountford’s daughters said in a statement all they wanted was for their “mother to overcome her injuries.” “Thank you to those that came to her aid in her time of need, and to those who continue to care for her,” the statement said. “We are devastated and utterly heartbroken that our dear mother has endured such a horrifying ordeal. “For such a kind-hearted person to suffer so deeply is hard for us to understand. “All that we want at this time is for our mother to overcome her injuries, and we pray and hope that she gets better soon. “She is a strong woman and we know she will be using all her strength to get better.” Mr Sullivan’s lawyer told the court his client’s behaviour was out of character for him and a neuropsychological report would be prepared before sentencing. Mr Sullivan was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on March 25 next year.
