Young gun Baker boots three goals for Lions
Lake Grace’s Liam Baker has starred in his second league game for Subiaco, kicking three goals in their 64-point victory over Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday afternoon.
Part of the WA State 18s program last season, Baker switched from West Perth to Subiaco in the off-season and in his second league game finished with 17 disposals, three inside 50s and three goals in the Lions’ win.
The promising youngster played 16 colts games and five reserves games for the Falcons before impressing in four reserves matches for the Lions early this season.
Mt Barker junior Ben Saunders booted four goals in South Fremantle’s 60-point win over Perth at Lathlain Park also on Saturday.
Part of a damaging Bulldogs forward line, Saunders moved to equal fourth in the leading goal kicker standings with 16 goals after his four majors came from 10 possessions, four marks and four inside 50s.
Royals product Morgan Davies had 19 disposals in Claremont’s league defeat at the hands of Peel Thunder at Fremantle Community Bank Oval while ex-West Coast and St Kilda utility and Railways junior Beau Maister was limited to one goal from five marks and eight touches.
Borden’s Lewis Davis was named in Claremont colts’ best players after 13 disposals, 15 hit-outs and a goal helping his side to a 21-point triumph.
Denmark-Walpole junior Josh Devitt-Boyd was also among Claremont’s best contributors, with 13 possessions and five marks.
