Breweries from across WA will go head-to-head in a fight for beer bragging rights as the Wilson Brewing Company hosts the first Beer Battle of the Regions.

One brewery from each of six WA regions will nominate a premium or new-release beer to be judged by the public as they vote for the best brew.

Punters will get to try one beer from each brewery before voting.

There will also be a panel with a representative from each brewery so guests can learn more about the industry.

Wilson Brewing will represent the Great Southern, with the event taking place at its brewery bar from 4pm-10pm on June 26.

The competitors include Beerfarm from the South West, Wedgetail Brewing Co from Peel region, Beaten Track Brewery from the Goldfields, Blasta Brewing Company from Perth, and Finlay’s Kalbarri from the Mid West.

Event founder Wilson’s Liz Northern said she was looking forward to taking on the other breweries.

“We can’t wait to catch up for a beer and have some fun together in Albany,” she said.

“It’s exciting to bring a new event to the Great Southern, and also bringing together other regional breweries.

“I guess we’re all fairly isolated so I’m thrilled the other breweries are making the effort to travel down to our beautiful town.”

Ms Northern said the Albany brewery would enter a new seasonal beer, due for release on June 21, in the competition.

She hopes to make the battle an annual event, with the regions taking turns to host it.
