West Leederville man dies while windsurfing in Albany’s Princess Royal Harbour

A Perth man has died while windsurfing in Albany’s Princess Royal Harbour on Wednesday. Police and paramedics were called to the popular windsurfing location off Frenchman Bay Road, Robinson after 2pm. A 73-year-old man was found unresponsive in the water and despite attempts to save him with CPR, he died at the scene. Albany police and St John WA officers attended but the man could not be revived. The West Leederville man had travelled to Albany for a windsurfing trip, according to Albany police officer-in-charge Acting Senior Sergeant David Costello. Acting Sen. Sgt Costello said there were no suspicious circumstances in the incident and offered his condolences to the man’s family. “This is a really tragic incident where a man came down to Albany and was windsurfing when he’s had a medical episode,” he said. “CPR was commenced when he was located but that was unfortunately unsuccessful. “His family were notified immediately and a report will be prepared for coroner.”
