West Coast Eagles regional academy set to unearth Great Southern talent with month-long stint in Albany

The West Coast Eagles are inviting budding football talent from the Great Southern to showcase their skills at their regional academy training sessions over the next month. Boys and girls aged 11-16 are encouraged to pull on the boots with the chance of being picked for the West Coast Eagles Regional Academy team to play against the metro academy team at Optus Stadium. The regional academy talent games have had a healthy representation of Great Southern Football League Women’s players with Mabel Markey, Pippa Wilson, Charlotte Clayton (North Albany), Emma Henderson (Denmark-Walpole), Saige Askevold and Chloe Semple (Mt Baker) all playing this season. The boys’ session is part of the Natanui Academy program which consists of on-field training, skill development and game-play through 2024. Former Essendon and Eagles player Michael Prior will attend the first session on Monday before Eagles’ Great Southern community coordinator Brad Nisbett takes charge of the rest. Every Monday, beginning on April 29, for four weeks straight the Eagles regional academy coaching staff will run clinics at Centennial Park. The hour-long training sessions start at 4.30pm for the girls and 5.30pm for the boys.
