West Coast Eagles have suffered the biggest loss in AFLW history, thumped by the Brisbane Lions at Mineral Resources Park on Sunday.

The Lions dominated the contest from the outset, compiling one of the most emphatic first halves in AFLW history.

Not only did Brisbane record the biggest half time margin with their 46-0 advantage, but they also restricted the Eagles to the equal-lowest number of inside 50s in a half of football (two).

The reigning premiers finished dominant 74-point winners at the final siren, setting a record for the biggest AFLW team score in the process.

West Coast did not go inside 50 until 10 minutes into the second quarter and did not kick their first score, a goal to Dana Hooker, until the third quarter.

Pingrup defender Belinda Smith was named in the Eagles best players amassing 15 disposals, six marks and one tackle in the 4.0 (24) to 15.8 (98) defeat.

Albany key defender Sophie McDonald returned to the Eagles line-up and finished with seven touches, three marks and three tackles.

Denmark ruck Parris Laurie battled hard during the contest and gathered eight disposals and had 11 hit outs.

West Coast now have a win-loss record of 1-7 and slipped to last spot on the AFLW ladder after St Kilda’s win over Gold Coast earlier in the day.

The Eagles will now host the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium on Saturday night.
