Weather can’t stop riders from taking part in Albany Pony Club’s ODE event
More than 60 competitors took part in the Albany Pony Club’s Great Southern Zone ODE event on the weekend at Albany Equestrian Centre.
Riders from Capel, Northam, Cuballing, Perth and surrounds as well as riders from local clubs took part in dressage events on Satur-day before braving the poor weather on Sunday to compete in showjumping and cross country.
Tanya Radecker won the pony club members’ 105cm class on Kendlestone Park Jive to defeat Tara Harding on Parkiarrup Bundarlee.
Harding took out the pony club members’ 95cm event on her Lockharts Popty Ping ahead of Kayla Wright on Kenwyn a Trick.
In the open 95cm class, Ben Falcin on Valkyries had success, while Bethany Rainbow and Rebecca Gordon also made the podium.
Asha Wiegele was too good on her horse Tullows Prince in the pony club members’ 80cm over-14 event to defeat Danee Bairstow and Georgia O’Meara.
In the under-14 pony club members’ 80cm event Charlee Morton-sharp on Impazzire won ahead of Felicity Ericcson and Bridie Johnson. Lisa Silvester proved too strong for Rainbow and Esther Harris in the open 80cm event.
Julia Kershaw on Marglyn Con Brio won the pony club members’ 65cm over-14 event, while Taiah Curtis and Hannah Steinoff rounded out the top three.
In the under-14 65cm event for pony club members, Kirby Brooks won on Thorne Park Broadway ahead of Addison Moir and Matikda Steinhoff.
Ben Galvin won the open 65cm event on Centralise, ahead of Gordan and Renae Walker.
Christine Hill on Cruiser won the pony club members’ over-14 event ahead of Curtis and Dixie Wyatt, while Tave McLeod won the open 45cm event in front of Kasey Manolini.
