Wacky themes add fun to mini golf course

There is a new attraction in town where Egyptian mummies, a crazy cat lady and Mario Cart all find a home.

Albany Wacky Golf opened last weekend and the local family behind the miniature golf course is excited to provide some all-ages fun in their home city.

Steve and Jaimie Hancock, along with their sons Caleb, Ethan and Liam, have spent the past 12 months dreaming up silly themes for their 18-hole course.

Mrs Hancock said they wanted to make something you could enjoy whether you were five or 105.

“We found we needed something indoors that families could do,” she said.

“Steve has done the real-estate photography in Albany for 13 years now, so he got to know and talk to business owners and see what they are looking for in town.

“I have done retail myself for 20 years and we just wanted something that families could do together.”

The Chester Pass Road shed contains more than just mini golf, with arcade games, pool tables and funny costumes to wear around the course.

Their Egyptian statues come from the same European factory that makes them for Disneyland.

Mr Hancock said they had tried to make the course easy enough for everyone to use.

“The way that we have designed the course is so that it is accessible as possible for retirees,” he said.

“We made sure we used shallower holes, so they aren’t having to bend down as much.

“For active carers, we can turn the music and lights down to cater for people’s needs.”
