Victorian fugitive remains behind bars

A man who was wanted by Victorian and WA police will remain behind bars in this State after not applying for bail during a court appearance in Albany.

Victorian fugitive Dean Ronald Guest was arrested in Ravensthorpe on May 30 after being wanted by Victorian police for a non-fatal shooting in Castlemaine with police allegedly finding firearms, weapons and a quantity of cash in his car at the time of arrest.

Mr Guest made a brief appearance in Albany Magistrates Court via video-link from Hakea Prison this afternoon facing a total of 10 charges from his arrest 15km west of Ravensthorpe and matters dating back to 2014.

Mr Guest faces charges including two counts of possessing an unlicensed firearm and a prohibited drug, possessing a prohibited weapon, breach of bail, three counts of being unlicensed and possessing a fire or ammunition, possessing methamphetamine and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Defence lawyer Jamie Hodgkinson requested a two-week adjournment for legal advice to seek instruction on charges arising from his client’s arrest in Ravensthorpe.

He will reappear in court on June 22.

Victorian police are expected to eventually extradite Mr Guest back to Victoria.
