Upgrades to centre under way
Works for the new Tourism and Visitor Centre on York Street remain on track, with the construction phase expected to begin in coming weeks, according to the City of Albany.
City chief executive Andrew Sharpe said demolition works at the eastern end of the pub-lic library had wrapped up recently, with initial construction works including earthworks and service pre-lays soon to start.
“Project works remain on schedule and construction is expected to begin within weeks and be completed to lock-up stage before the end of the year,” he said. “The project will then move into the final phase of construc-tion, which is focused on the internal fit-out, with the project aiming to be complete in early 2018.”
