Unlikely beehive sets Plaza car park abuzz

Shannon SmithAlbany Advertiser

The Feral Beekeeper answered a distress call unlike any other this week, when bees swarmed on a car outside the Albany Plaza.

The bees gathered on the passenger side window of Kelly Rowe’s car on Tuesday afternoon.

Jonathan Jones is The Feral Beekeeper and removes bee swarms in the Albany area free of charge, relocating them to hives in the bush.

He said when he received the phone call from Ms Rowe, he thought it was some kind of Halloween prank.

“I have never removed a swarm off a car before, so I used my usual technique and hoped for the best,” he said.

After spraying the bees with honey water to make them lethargic, Mr Jones successfully swept the swarm into a container to be transported.

He was unsure why exactly the bees had made their home on the car.
