Albany and Districts Cricket Association under-16 and under-14 teams have had mixed results over the past few days of their 2020 junior country week campaign.

The under-16’s side recorded their third win after chasing down Busselton-Margaret River Cricket Association small total of 97 thanks to an impressive bowling display from Angus Thompson.

Thompson returned sensational figures of 4-1 off nine overs with seven maidens to help quell the total.

In reply Albany chased down the total in 38 overs, being bowled out for 110.

Mohit Jaggi top scored with 23 while Jack Stephens made 21 in the run chase.

The under-14s will play off for third spot tomorrow after Wellington Districts Cricket Association chased down their total of 120.

Albany posted 120 batting first with Teague Valli making 45 not out, Wellington chased down the total four wickets down in the 39th over.

Rory Luscombe claimed three scalps but it wasn't enough to prevent their side from a loss.

The under-14s team continued their impressive week after chasing down Geraldton Junior Cricket Association’s impressive total in their first 50-over match on Tuesday.

Geraldton batted first, posting 9-181 off their 50 overs as Luscombe was handy with the ball, taking 2-25 off seven overs, and Milan Jaggi snared 1-5 off four overs.

A well-compiled half century from Teague Valli guided his side to a one-wicket win, staying undefeated.

Valli hit five boundaries in his innings of 54 that nearly lasted two hours while Ethan Foreman (23) and Jed Schwarzbach (22) also added handy contributions as they finished 9-202 from 50 overs.

Albany’s under-14s yesterday played Bunbury & Districts Cricket Association, who made 3-236 batting first.

Albany were bowled out for 82 in the 32nd over with Caleb Haua top scoring with 20.

Albany’s under-16s fell just seven runs short in their first 50-over game against Geraldton on Tuesday.

Needing 40 runs off the last nine overs to win the match, Mitchell Rowling and Dillan Gadean put on 33 together to almost steer their side to an unlikely victory.

Rowling was bowled for a spirited 24, leaving Albany seven runs short of Geraldton total of 138.

Jack Stephens top-scored with 25 for Albany as they were bowled out for 131 off 49th over.

Albany’s first XI had grabbed victory against Eastern Goldfields Junior Cricket Council yesterday, thanks to young spinner Thompson.

Thompson took 5-19 as Eastern Goldfields were bowled out for just 79.

Albany had secured victory at 3-80.
